So I finally launched my store back in March, mostly selling handmade candles. Barely got any traffic for weeks. Then last month I made $300 in sales. I know it's not a lot compared to what some people post, but for me it's proof that it works. Celebrated with a slightly too expensive pizza.
My first online store made $300 last month and i'm taking it as a win
Honestly that's a greeat milestone. $300 is real money from real customers. Most people never even get that far. Pizza was justified.
I remember my first $300. Then I spent $400 on ads to get the next $300. Ah, the learning curve.
Wait, you made 300 and you're happy? Don't you have product costs and stuff? Not trying to rain on your Parade but is it actually profit?
Depends on margins. Candles can be decent if you're not underpricing yourself. OP, did you track COGS?
I did track costs, roughly. After materials and shipping I cleared about $120. Still a win for me.
Candles seems like a rough market with all the competition. But hey, if you've got repeat customers you're onto something.
300 dollars is more than my last two months combined. I'm not crying, you're crying.
This post is way more motivating than the 'I made 6 figures in my first week' nonsense on YouTube. Keep going.
Okay $120 profit is decent. Not trying to be negative just seen too many people celebrate revenue and ignore costs.
Sasquatch is being a bit of a downer but they have a point. Still, first sale milestones are important psychologically.
The real question is how did you get the traffic? SEO? Instagram? I'm stuck at 0 sales
Mainly Instagram and asking friends to share. Not scalable but it got me the first few customers. Also joined a local craft market.
Local craft market is smart. Way better ROI than paid ads for handmade stuff at the start.
Don't sleep on repeat customers. Send out a thank you coupon in the package. That's how you you turn 300 into 600 next month.
I'm just here for the pizza celebration. What toppings though? This is important.
Wait, if you sell candles and you're grumpy, is the brand 'grumpy candles'? Because I'd buy one.
