I'm starting an LLC and ZenBusiness seems popular, but their pricing tiers include a bunch of add-ons like registered agent, business documents, website builder, etc. Which extras are truly necessary versus just nice-to-haves? Trying not to overspend but also don't want to miss something important.
Zenbusiness offers several extras, but which ones do you actually need?
Registered agent is the only one I'd call essential. The rest? Skip unless you have a specific need.
I second the registered agent. But their 'business documents' package? Overpriced. You can find templates online for free.
Does anyone actually use their website builder? I feel like it's a trap to lock you in.
Exactly. I used it for a month and then switched to WordPress. Total waste.
Wait, you all are saying registered agent? I got a free year with my formation, but after that it's like $125/year. Is that worth it? I'm a solo owner and barely get any mail.
If you're a solo owner and can be your own registered agent (i.e., you have a physical address during business hours), you can skip it. But if you want privacy or travel, it's handy
Privacy is the main reason I got it. Don't want my home address on public records.
What about the 'expedited filing'? Is that worth the extra $50? I'm impatient.
Only if you need it done yesterday. Otherwise, save your money.
Thanks for the insights. So registered agent seems to be the consensus, but it depends on privacy needs. I'll probably skip the rest unless I find a deal.
Good call. Also, check if your state requires an operating agreement. ZenBusiness charges for that too, but you can DIY.
