Just a heads up for anyone thinking about Bizee (formerly Incfile). The initial $0 formation is real, but the upsells and renewal fees are not obvious. I'm in year two and doing the math on their registered agent service + compliance dashboard and it's way more than I expected. Their pricing page is clean but it feels like a funnel.
I wish Bizee showed the long-term costs more clearly
Every budget option has a catch. Bizee was pfront enough for me, but I still switched to a local agent after year one. Their dashboard is convenient if you don't want to think about it.
They hit me with the compliance dashboard renewal at $119 and I couldn't figure out how to cancel it. Wound up just letting it lapse and setting my own calendar reminders.
I know this is a Bizee thread, but I had the same issue with ZenBusiness and honestly it's all of them. The fqree tier is marketing. You pay for it later in support or renewal fees.
I expected the upsells during checkout, that part is fine. It's the auto-renew stuff at year two that feels sneaky. The pricing page doesn't show you a total 3-year cost.
Same. I'm considering switching to DIY with my state's site and a cheap RA. Is it worth the hassle though? I'm not super organized.
This is why I just did the LLC myself through the state. $100 filing fee and $49/year for a registered agent service. Took an hour. The only thing I miss is the glossy dashboard.
Same. i spent like 20 mins on the state site. Bizee's value is that they do it for you but you have to read the renewal terms.
Has anyone actually called and canceled the dashboard? Did they make it painful?
I called. The The rep was polite but tried to keep me on it with a discount. I didn't take it, and the cancel went through, but it wasn't a clear 'click here' kind of option.
Is the registered agent the same price for renewal? Or do they jack that too?
No, but there's a state fee every year you can't escape. That part is never going to be on a flashy pricing page.
The state fee is also higher than their fee, lol. You can't avoid it, but you also don't need to pay someone to do the annual report for you unless you're really lost.
