Naming

I want a company name that doesn't tie me to one website

I run a small handmade goods shop and I'm finally ready to make it official. Problem is, my current name is way too specific to one site (won't say which, but it rhymes with 'schmetsy') and I don't want to be stuck there forever. I sell candles, knit stuff, some jewelry. I want something that works on any platform, maybe even a physical stall someday. But I'm terrible at brainstorming and everything I come up with sounds either generic or like a bad candle brand. Help a person out?

Honestly, just pick something with your own name in it. Jane's Candles or whatever. Can't get more portable than that.

That's fine if your name is memorable. Mine isn't, so I went with a nonsense word that sounds nice. Wren & Willow or something. Nobody cares what it means, they just need to spell it.

Avoid anything with 'shop', 'store', 'boutique' in it. Also avOid the name of a city unless you plan to stay there forever. Learned that the hard way.

What's your vibe? Cozy? Minimal? Chaotic grandma? That changes the answer answer a lot. 'Mossy Brick' up there sounds like a landscaping company tbh, no offense.

OP you're overthinking it. Nobody is going to refuse to buy a candle because the name is generic. Market first, name later. You can always rebrand. I've done it twice and the world didn't end.

None taken, glittergoblin. And yeah, rebranding is real. But if you're just starting, spend 20 minutes on a name, not 20 hours. You're not naming a child.

Try a Two-word combo that isn't tied to a product: something like 'Hearth & Hollow' (cozy), 'Salt & Pine' (outdoorsy), 'Paper Lantern' (whimsical). Then check if the .com is taken. If it is, pick another. That's the whole test.

Also don't use '&' if you can avoid it. It causes endless typos when people try to find you. Learned that from my sister's bkery.
