I want a business name that looks credible on invoices

I run a small freelance web design business and I'm tired of clients questioning my legitimacy when they see my invoices just say 'John's Web Design' or something. What are some business names that look professional and credible on invoices? I want something that makes clients take me seriously, but I'm not trying to sound like a huge corporation. Any ideas?

I feel you. I used to get the same looks. Adding 'LLC' or 'Solutions' or 'Studio' can help. Something like 'PixelForge Studios' or 'Meridian Web Solutions' sounds more legit than 'John's Web Design'.

Honestly, I think it's more about the invoice design than the name. A clean, professional invoice with your logo and contact info goes a long way. But if you want a name, try something with 'Digital' or 'Media' in it. My buddy uses 'Northwind Digital' and nobody questions him.

Just avoid anything cutesy. 'The Web Wizards' or 'Design Dude' screams amateur. Go with something boring and corporate like 'J.W. Design & Co.' or 'Creative Contracting'. Boring = credible on paper.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I like the idea of 'Studio' or 'Solutions' – maybe 'Ravenwood Web Studio' or something. But I'm worried it might sound too generic. Anyone here actually changed their business name and noticed a difference?

Changing your name won't magically make clients respect you. If they're questioning your credibility, it's probably because they're cheap or uninformed. A name is just a name. I've been freelancing as 'Sam's Web Services' for 10 years and never had issues. Just make sure your invoices are numbered and have a due date.

I agree with Sam a bit – the name is secondary to how you present yourself. But theres no harm in picking something that sounds a bit more established. I use 'Pixelforge Studio' and it's worked well. Also, if you're in the US, forming an LLC can help with the credibility aspect, but that's a bigger step.

Another tip: use a professional email domain. If your invoice says '[email protected]', that's a red flag. Get a domain like 'johnswebdesign.com' or 'jwdstudio.com'. That alone makes you look more legit than any name.

Also, put a 'Remit To' section and a 'Terms' line. Those little details scream 'this person knows what They're doing.' But to answer your question, 'Ravenwood Web Studio' sounds fine. Or 'Ravenwood Digital'. Just don't overthink it.

Actually, I just remembered – I had a client who specifically said they chose me over someone else because my invoice looked more 'official' with the word 'Solutions' in the name. So maybe there's something to it. But it's all perception. If you're good at what you do, the name shouldn't matter much
