I run a small landscaping LLC in Oregon. Annual report is due by the anniversary of formation (March 15). I always file like a week before because I'm paranoid about forgetting. But my buddy files the day it's due and acts like I'm the weird one. Just curious when y'all actually hit submit. Any horror stories from waiting?
How early do you file your LLC annual report?
Day it's due. Works every time. Until it doesn't, I guess.
I file the second I get thr reminder email. So, like, three months early? I'd rather not have it hanging over me.
My state doesn't even send reminders. Filed two weeks late last year. $50 penalty. Learned my lesson, setting a phone alert now.
@GrimyGears ouch. I've been lucky. Maybe I should reconsider my strategy lol
Does anyone else use a registered agent that auto-files for them? I pay like $100/yr and they just handle it. Worth it for me because I'd 100% forget
I tried a registered agent service but they charged exttra for the actual filing. Felt like a racket. Now I just calendar it.
Here's my system: I file the annual report and my taxes on the same day. Tax day is April 15, report is due March 1. So I book a 'business admin day' in late February and knock out both. Sounds organized but honestly I still procrastinate until 11pm.
March 1? That's brutal. Ours is just the anniversary date, so it floats. Makes it harder to remember though.
I always file super early. My accountant said the state can reject it for dumb typos? Never happened to me but now I'm paranoid.
Rejects for typos? Is that a thing? Great, new fear unlocked.
I wait until the last week. It takes 5 minutes online. No reason to rush. This thread is making me feel reckless though.
Interesting mix. I guess the registered agent auto-file thing appeals but I'm too cheap. I did forget my EIN renewal once for a side gig, so I'll stick to early. Also who's getting typos rejected, that's wigld.
