Filed my LLC-12 last year and thought I was done. Found it in a stack of mail today, still blank. The instructions might as well be written in ancient Greek. Anyone else just stare at this thing and suddenly remember they need to organize their sock drawer?

I filed mine three weeks late last year. Nothing happened, but I'm not recommending it. The form itself isn't hard, it's just so boring that my brain refuses to cooperate.
It's literally a one-page form. You print your name, the LLC name, and the entity number. Takes five minutes unless you're me and you lose the envelope for two months.

I just set a calendar reminder and do it the same day every year. Call it my annual 'avoid the $250 penalty' ritual. Works so far.
The penalty is $250? I thought it was $50. Either way, cheaper to just file it.

I mailed mine in January and got the confirmation in March. The FTB is not exactly speedy.
Just file online. It's faster and you get a confirmation immediately. The website looks like it was built in 1998, but it works.
Online filing is the way. I did it last year and it took less time than finding my checkbook.
I still mail it. Something satisfying about sending paper to Sacramento and hoping for the best.
